Debbie Allen
Independent Funeral Celebrant - Covering Liverpool & Beyond

My name is Debbie Allen and I am an independent, qualified funeral celebrant. Previously, I was a teacher and then a Special Needs Co-ordinator in schools in Manchester, Runcorn and Liverpool. I believe this has charged me with the relevant experiences and attributes to bring to the role of celebrant.

About Me

Increasingly, families are choosing to celebrate a life by way of a unique ceremony which is dictated less by a traditional script, and more by the life of the special person that has died and the wishes of those who are remembering them. Having experienced the celebrant-led funerals for members of my own family, I found myself considering it, more and more,as a vocation for myself. The support that we, as a family, were given and the way in which the service was crafted lovingly around our loved ones to give the best possible opportunity for us to truly celebrate a life and pay our respects, was invaluable.

Often, I am introduced to families by their chosen Funeral Director, although I can be approached by the families directly. However the initial introduction is made, I then work very closely with the families and Funeral Directors to ensure that everything goes exactly as planned.

I am able to officiate at non-religious funerals and at those where an element of religion or spirituality is desired. I am able to help you with your choice of music, poems, prayers, hymns and readings should any of these be desired. I can also advise you on how family members or friends may be included. I can assist you to make the decisions about how the service is structured, whether you wish parts to be delivered by family members or prefer me to present it in its entirety. The emphasis is on creating an entirely unique and special service for the unique and special person we are honouring. More often than not the ceremony will take place at a Crematorium or natural burial ground, however other options are available and can be discussed at our initial meeting.

Once we have been introduced I will meet with you to discuss your wishes and listen to the memories of your loved one, to prepare the tribute (eulogy) and the bespoke service which I will email to you so that you can check it and make any changes required, ensuring that it is absolutely right on the day.

I work alongside the family to create exactly the service they wish to hold, taking into account the beliefs, memories, hopes and expectations of everyone concerned. The emphasis is to honour the person who has died and comfort those left behind. Every family deserves the best that I can give; that they trust me at such a difficult time is a privilege that can never be taken for granted.

Whatever your wishes for the funeral service please feel free to discuss them with me.
